Alignment wedge made from high-strength 6082 aluminium for changing the position of the rear carrier

The position of the towbar ball indirectly determines the horizontal position of the rear carrier. Not all towbar balls, and especially not all towbar necks, are perfectly level. If the towbar ball is inclined towards the vehicle, the mounted rear carrier will also automatically incline towards the vehicle. The part of the rear carrier facing away from the vehicle is raised. The result: greater ground clearance at the rear of the carrier. If the towbar ball and neck are noticeably inclined away from the vehicle, in unfavourable cases the rear carrier may no longer even be level. The quick-release compensates for this up to a certain angle of inclination of the towbar. However, if the towbar inclination is too great, the rear carrier may hang down on the side of the carrier facing away from the vehicle. The ground clearance beneath the rear carrier is reduced. This is particularly undesirable when the rear carrier is loaded and can lead to grounding or contact with the ground on rough terrain.

To nevertheless change the position of the rear carrier, raising or lowering it despite a towbar "misalignment", Heck-Pack developed the Heck-Pack alignment wedge. Made from high-strength, lightweight aluminium and precisely machined from solid material, this wedge can be mounted between the rear carrier and the quick-release. Depending on how the wedge is installed, it raises or lowers the rear section of the rear carrier, the part facing away from the vehicle. The scope of delivery includes screws of different lengths and nuts for mounting the wedge between the quick-release and the rear carrier. Naturally, Heck-Pack’s alignment wedge can also be fitted to an already installed lowering or folding-up mechanism, or to Heck-Pack’s fold-up lowering mechanism.
